Yale 'Swat Team' descends on Guilford

Our Biology of Terrestrial Arthropods class brought its full collecting prowess to bear on field, forest, and marsh habitats in Guilford this afternoon. We added a handful of new insect and non-insect arthropod families to our collections today. Although J.B.S. Haldane claimed that "God has an inordinate fondness for beetles", I'd say that many in our class have an inordinate fondness for dragonflies. Check out the speed, skill, and intensity with which Chelsea nets this Odonate (these pictures were taken just fractions-of-seconds apart).
A crevasse in this rock formation seems to be a popular hangout for some large snakes.
Valerie looks on with suspicion as I pretend to fumble with the iPad.
Peter delights in discovering applications for his new iPad.

  1. Alright folks, I'm just learning this blogger application for the first time. I obviously wanted the pictures of Chelsea netting the dragonfly to be in sequence. Also, I wanted to post captions for each picture (such as, "Valerie looks on with suspicion as I pretend to fumble with my iPad", or "Peter delights in his new iPad's applications"). If I can figure that out, I'll re-post or add this content later.

  2. Rich,

You may want to also change the size of your image size in the Blogger App (step 9): https://classesv2.yale.edu/access/content/group/eeb251l_f12/blogger/bloggerapp.html
